Internship and Volunteer Opportunities in Social Service near Kandy - Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, Education

We are looking for interns and volunteers to assist with relief and recovery work after recent disasters in Kandy.  Interns should be amidst their post schooling education and who are demonstrably interested in pursuing social service and acquiring competencies. Volunteers at all levels who contribute particularly in our office for Disaster Recovery in Kengalla or in other locations are welcome. 

Interns need to be able to write with precision and be able to communicate in English, Tamil and Sinhala and seeks to understand the world around them, and cares to have a beneficial impact on communities and environment.  Projects, writing assignments, extra-curricular activities may point to your interests. Some skills that are needed are

  1. Able to work in a challenging environment
  2. Ability to work in a diverse team
  3. Willingness to undertake field work among affected
  4. Have a good command of written and spoken  
  5. Competence in Sinhala, Tamil and other languages
  6. IT Skills for administration
  7. Ability to maintain office records
  8. Ability to work independently and conscientiously
  9. Be well organized

Tropical Climate is a non-profit charitable organization which undertakes socio-economic, scientific, and engineering, research organization which undertakes publishing, advocacy, training and education with offices at 17 km East of Kandy (Digana), and North of Kandy and also overseas.  It has partnerships with other organizations.
